The Internet

I've been on the internet since I was 10 years old. I've used Veriria since I was about 15! I've not had any other screen names since I choose Veriria...And I've never had a problem getting that as my username, either! I've been unique online for quite a while...A rare thing, I'm sure! I found this name on a 'medieval names' webpage, but have NEVER found it since on any other like webpages.

You can usually find me working on my website, chatting with people on The Palace, or surfing the internet when I am online. I am a very laid back person. I don't like fighting; I am a very passive aggressive person. Most of my friends are all online now, as all of my 'real life' friends have moved away to go to college or to procreate.

Cartoon Dolls

What you probably call cartoon dolls, dollz, sk8er dollies, etc. actually started out as avatars on a graphical chatting client known as The Palace Chat. I started using The Palace Chat somewhere in 1998. At first I just collected avatar parts and what not, and then I started to make my own. I think whoever created the dolls in the first place is questionable - it has been so long ago and they have been edited *so* many times!

Of course they were no where near what dolls are today! In The Palace you are limited to a palette of 132 colors only! This is why my style of dolls, even the ones on my website, are done one pixel at a time, usually - I do not like to use smudging tools and what not in PSP, because then I wouldn't be able to use them as avatars in The Palace! I still chat on The Palace sometimes, and therefore like to use my creations in there.

My website was one of the first websites to show how to make your own cartoon dolls. The first one was Love for an Immortal's website, and mine was the second. After that, the internet exploded with fabulous cartoon dolls. I am very glad to be able to help so many people with making dolls and for bringing so many people to The Palace chat.

Hobbies

Apart from the massive section of my website pertaining to cartoon dolls, or avatars as I call them, I love making handmade soaps! The glycerin (or melt & pour) soaps, and also REAL handmade soap (which is a very involved process! Read more on my handmade soaps page, the link is to the left). I also enjoy working on websites - but I lack the imagination to actually create many, so I use other people's pretty layouts ;)

I like to listen to all sorts of music (except rap!), read, and watch movies. Like some people I know, I also like Origami - I have been into that for many years. I also like to make handmade chocolates, in the form of small 3D coffins! Reading of course is a must, whether it is sci-fi, fantasy, or reference books. I also like to watch Anime. Inuyasha is one of my favorites! I do like Cartoon Network's Adult Swim anyways, every show on there is great ;)

Books, Movies, and TV

I absolutely love to read. Mostly fantasy and Sci-Fi, I can't choose which kind I like better.

I love Mercedes Lacky for her Bardic Voices novels. They are so cute!

Terry Pratchett for his Discworld series of novels. I love them all! The Reaper is my favorite character by far - I recently read Hogfather and was laughing my arse off the entire time!

Terry Brooks for this Magic Kingdom of Landover series - they are so awesome! They also made me laugh very hard - you have GOT to read them.

Terry Goodkind for his Sword of Truth series. Oh My God they are kickass. I read Chainfire recently as my brother just bought it when it came out. Can we say kickass one more time? I can't wait for the next one to be released!

Robin Hobb far outdoes all the previous authors, I must say. The Farseer Trilogy, the Liveship Traders Trilogy, and The Tawny Man Trilogy are again by far the best books I have read so far in my life. If you have NOT read these, I suggest going to the library and starting! I can't wait for more from Robin Hobb.

J.K. Rowling for Harry Potter. Need I say more?

Tolkein. Again, do I have to say any more?

As far as Movies go, I love sci-fi and fantasy as well. Willow, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Pirates of the Carribean, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Star Trek, and more!

As far as TV shows go, I LOVE Stargate SG-1! I just love the series. I also enjoy House, for the cynical old bastard of a Doctor on that show ;)
