How to Create Cartoon Dolls Tutorials ![]() |

There's always the question when you 'edit' an avatar/doll: "Did I create this, or did I edit this?" Well its certainly safe to say you created your doll if you created the base body. But there is also when you totally create the clothing on the doll, but you didn't actually draw the base body you are using. Most of the base bodies you find on Palace, have been around for YEARS and not one person can really claim the creative rights to them, and say everyone has to stop using them. Even if it was possible, not every single person would stop using them, even if that was the case. But there are also base bodies popping up around the internet on websites, those you MUST read the authors terms and conditions...Some say use them to your hearts content, others say you still must link back to their site and say they are the original creator. In other words, READ VERY CAREFULLY. Personally, I beleive if you create your own unique clothing and hair onto a doll base body that is freely distributed (such as most base bodies on palace), then its safe for you to say you 'created' that doll. But, if you take a body, and peices of clothing off of Palace, and only slightly edit them - i.e. change the colors of the clothing, or shade them in a little more - then you only edited them. In any case, real human beings created ALL of the props, avs, and dolls you find on Palace. If you get a prop, av, or doll off of palace, but don't know who originally drew it, at least say you found it on Palace. And for Heaven's sake!! -- do NOT just take avs, props, or dolls off of Palace, slap them up on your webpage, and offer them up for adoption! Create your own dolls if you are going to do that - you have no right to take stuff off of Palace and offer them off as your own creations.
